A web cache is an information technology for the temporary storage of web documents, such as HTML pages or images that reduces bandwidth usage, server load, and / or perceived lag in loading pages. A web cache system stores copies of documents passing through it, and subsequent requests to access the same information can be satisfied from that cache of HTML pages or information if certain criteria and conditions are met. What that means to web browsing is that entire page doesn’t necessarily have to be accessed each time a person looks at it – it can be loaded faster by utilizing a cache, in which the information is already available and doesn’t have to be retransmitted. It is possible to significantly improve your SEO via caching. In fact, there are three primary ways to improve SEO rankings by utilizing caching.

As I just mentioned, by reducing bandwidth usage, caching allows certain information to be accessed much faster. This is a huge benefit because it reduces bounce rate. Browser caching stores webpage resource files on a local computer when a particular user utilizing that computer visits a webpage. This creates expires headers that tell the browser whether a page needs to be requested from the source (i.e. obtained directly through the site source) or if it can be retrieved from the cache, reducing load time. Ultimately, this again can be leveraged to improve SEO because improving a sites load time improves functionality, reduces bounce rates, and improves Time to First Bite, or TTFB, which is a significant factor in ranking in the google analytics.

A cache server is a network server or service that saves webpages and internet contact locally – again, this increases load time and functionality while increasing the speed with which data can be accessed. Server caching allows you to set cache control headers – or protocols that webpages and browsers follow when determining whether to cache data. These cache control headers make it easier for web crawlers to search your website, which, in turn, increases SEO, because web crawlers gather the data that determines how sites will rank in SEO.
